Wahrscheinlich bleiber ich jetzt erst einmal eine zeitlang hier,

suche mir Arbeit und entscheide dann wies weitergeht!

After a few weeks without inet, we arrived in frenchspeaking New Caledonia.

Inet as well as anything is terrible expensive, thats why i have to shortcut now.

Stay here for a few weeks and than we re on the way to australia (looking forward!)

will  share some fotos with you soon, have some nice ones from the vulcano last week!

Hello!

I just wanna say, that we arrived safely in venuatu.

It took us 4 days and 3 night sailing, and we had, after the first day, reasonable wind and a good speed.

im looking forward to go up the vulcano in a few days time, on the 200 km distant island “tenna”.

Probably, from there we are going on to New Caledonia in one or two weeks, but not shure yet when exactly.

FIJI!!!

Finally after al this weeks cruising and living in fiji, i ve got the time (or the mood rather..)
to write some down and load some pics up.
First of all: its hot here.
Not only hot, but humid (feucht) also.
that means you shower, and 33 min later your sticky again.
But anyway, thats probably one of the few downsides of fiji.
Apart from that its, for me, a very interesting contry, with contains
2 main island (viti levu and vanua levu) and many smaller ones spread over several
hundred kilometers.
The people (57% fijians, 37% indienfijies,6% asiat and european)live either in the towns or in villages.
Villages have a low livingstandard, means they live in huts and get limited power from
generators or via solarpanels.
Many Fijians from the villages work in one of the by foreigner owned resorts close by.
Unfortionatly due to the current govermental difficulties, the tourism felt back to ca. 50 %
of the usual. New Zealand and Australian Goverment warn people of going to fiji.
I personally, and all yardies we have talked with yet, havent experienced any
problems with the officials, apart checking in to the country.

There are a lot of christians in fiji. Apart from the indian-fijis (who were brought into the country by the british about 100 years ago, to work on the sugerplantations, but the british didnt bring them back home again…)
who are hindus mostyl.

The last weeks we spend with cruising around up to the yasawas, to remote islands,
to resorts etc.
Yardies are mostly everywhere welcome, but to anker in front of a village, they often have to
pay with “kaba”.
The “chiefs” reign the villages and the kabarute
is given to them as a payment to anker, or visit the village, in the cerenomy called “sevu sevu”.
Out of the rute, they prepare a drink (looks like dishwashingwater, tasts simular) with will be
drunk by the visiters, the chief and maybe some other villagers.
Kaba is one of the cultural items of Fiji.
The land in fiji is mostly owned by privat persons.
Every Fijian is supposed to own land in fiji, but many of them prefer to live in town and work there.

2 Weeks I spent in a settlement (small village) and in town with some missenionarys.
About 7 days I spent in the settlement, living with locals.
It was a good time, mostly I was in the resort “musket cove” and “plantation”
and played drums with some staff (mitarbeiter), who make music every day there(look at the pics).
I met many people form nz and australia there, and got invited by two couples, to stay with them in australia,
when I arrive there in a few weeks.
One of them even offered to get me a job in his company, if possible.

Today we re picking up a friend of another yard and spend then about 3-4 more weeks in fji.
After that we are going to venuatu, new caledonia and finally australia.

i finally arrived yesterday in fiji!
the trip was al right, at least we survieved!
we spend some more weeks here and then go on to australia!

its getting serious now..

especially for my friend sam harper i m starting to write my blog in english now.

after we have been waiting the last days for good weather, we are about to leave the harbour of opua today towards fiji.

the pics in the gallery are of the last days, watching a big tree, hiking on a little island, and visiting the toilet of hundertwasser

 now i have to sort out some of my luggage, than we gonna fill up petrol and check out our vessel afterwards.

if we cant get it in time to 12 am, we have to wait for tomorrow…

was es so neues gibt…

hallo freunde!
es hat sich einiges getan in den letzten wochen.
ich habe das boot in nelson auf der suedinsel verlassen, auf dem ich die letzten wochen gearbeite habe.
bin dann mit der faehre von picton nach wellington geschifft. habe dort die nacht verbracht und dann gings weiter nach aukland und von dort nach opua.
das trampen hat recht gut funktioniert, hab auch tim und tobi getrofffen, die in ihrem campervan 5 monate auf der nordinsel rumgefahren sind.
beide sind vom chiemsee, was ja gar nich so weit weg ist von passau
von aukland bin ich dann mit chris dem speditionsfahrer in seinem truck bis ins kleine opua gekommen, genau dort wo ich hinwollte.
dort hab ich dann eine woche nach einem segelschiffchen geguckt das mich unerfahrenen burschen auf sein boot aufnimmt und mit nach norden segeln laesst.
nach tagelangem rumfragen und erfolglosen recherchieren bekam ich einen anruf von leigh aus der ca. 100 km noerdlich liegenden stadt whangerei.
er las die notiz im jachtclub die ich vorher per post in verschiendene haefen geschickt hab.
zu meinem glueck war er auf der suche nach einer crew die nicht unbedingt erfahren ist, ihm war ein “easy to get along with” charakter wichtiger.

so, dann hab ich mich mit ihm getroffen, und wir sind von whangarei nach opua gesegelt. seine freundin lin hat uns dort begleitet.
jetzt sind wir also grad in opua, und weil wir ganz gut miteinander klargekommen sind, werden wir in ca . 3-4 tagen nach fiji segeln!!!

Leigh hat seine 44 ft jacht in 12 jaehriger arbeit 7 tage die woche selbstgebaut, nachdem er mit 38 in rente ging.
er war landwirt in australien, und hat seit er mit 15 die schule verlassen hat, fleissig 100 stunden in der woche gearbeitet um dann frueh aufhoeren zu koenen.
die letzten 13 jahre hat er damit verbracht auf der welt herum zu segeln.
er ist echt gut drauf, sehr erfahren und wir kommen gut miteinander klar.

jetzt liege wir gerade in opua vor anker, ich bin grad vom boot aus online, und mach mich gleich dran die winden auseinanderzunehemn und neu zu oelen.

also, wuenscht mir glueck, und hoffentlich werde ich nicht allzu seekrank

4 wochen nach beenden des pickingjobs, denke ich ist es wieder mal zeit einen kleinen blogeintrag zu schreiben.

mir geht es gut, das wetter wird immer kuehler, und der wind staerker.

ich bin von motuka in das 50 km entfernte nelson umgesiedelt, und helfe und wohne auf einer segeljacht im hafen.

sam, aus californien, hat diese jacht hier gekauft und bereitet sie fuer eine grosse tour ende das jahres vor.

ich hoffe da mit dabei sein zu koennen, und lern darum fleisig knoten und seglerslang

eigentlich war es vorgesehen dass ich noch laenger hierbleibe und nebenbei auch bei brandt am bau mithelfe, was mir echt voll spass gemacht hat, aber wir sind uebereingekommen dass es fuer beide besser ist wenn ich bald nach auckland auf die nordinsel gehe und dort nach einer jacht suche die noch ende der saison (naechstes monat) nach fuji oder tonga geht.

speziell dafuer hab ich mir meine haare gescheert und den “baart” wegrassiert. wirkt serioeser

da koennt ich dann ne menge lernen, und ende des jahres mit sam weitersegeln.

wenn das in auckland nichs wird komm ich vll. wieder zurueck und arbeite mit brand fuer ne zeit am bau. 

so, das sind meine plaene fuer die naechste zeit, mal gucken wahrscheinlihc kommt es eh wieder komplett anders als gedacht, aber das ist ja gerade das schoene am reisen

nach all dem tippen und in den bildschirmstarren bin ich jetzt so muede geworden dass ich ganz schnell in meinen schlafsack und vor dem einschlafen, mit dem ipod im ohr, ein paar sterne gucken will.
